"I first became interested in our project, ExoRise, because it aimed to help nurses, the unsung heroes of health care. This pervasive issue of injuries due to patient transfer has been  overlooked for some time, and I'm honored to be part of a team with a viable solution."

JASMINE CHO

"Ever since my sophomore year of high school, I have wished and strived to invent medical apparatus that could help provide better lives to people. My experience with exoRise was invaluable in that it once again allowed me to witness the possibility of helping those in need, such as the health care workers I met at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, with our invention."

"After being given the chance to pursue a degree in BME at Hopkins, I felt it only necessary to return the favor and create something that would make a monumental difference in the clinical world. Through exoRise and a clearly identified need for a more efficient patient transfer device, I felt like I’ve fully taken advantage of the great education provided to make something great."

"Joining the exoRise team has been an amazing experience for me. I have a cell and tissue engineering concentration, and I was excited to work on a mechanically driven project. Working on exoRise has exposed me to the public health aspects of the medical field and I am grateful for the unique opportunity to interact with and create a solution for such important stakeholders as nurses."

KEVIN MOON

Class of 2016

As a future Army officer and a BME from JHU, it was my intent to utilize the knowledge I acquired from this program to make a difference for our service members. Seeing both sides of the spectrum has granted me a greater understanding for the dangers that these brave men and women put themselves through and the numerous hardships that follow. By targeting the patient transfer realm via exoRise, I felt like I could apply everything I’ve learned to finally make that difference and help those who sacrificed so much.
