Regulatory Concerns
The 2016-2017 academic year will see exoRise sponsor a senior design project overseen by the JHU Mechanical Engineering department. In addition to the current team members, who will remain associated with the team in an advisory capacity, a team of senior undergraduates will spend the year developing exoRise.
Our team has filed a provisional patent for exoRise and will continue to pursue legal protection for our device and its associated novel components and characteristics.
FDA regulators believe that exoRise will be able to gain 510K clearance either de novo or as a follow-on to commercially available exoskeleton technologies. Either of these pathways will allow exoRise to avoid the time-consuming and costly PMA process.
